Air bag system - rear seat thorax

To enhance protection for you and your passengers, this array of sophisticated air bags1 includes:

  • Dual-stage frontal air bags for both the driver and front seat passenger, designed to inflate with greater or less speed and pressure (depending on the severity of the crash) and to help reduce the risk of air bag-related injury when the full force of an air bag may not be necessary
  • Side-impact air bags for the front seats, reducing the risk of injury for those occupants in certain crashes from the side
  • Head curtain air bags, which deploy from the roof rails along the front and rear outboard positions and help reduce the risk of head and neck injuries in certain side-impact collisions
  • Rear seat mounted thorax air bags
1 Always use safety belts and child restraints. Children are safer when properly secured in a rear seat in the appropriate child restraint. See the Owner's Manual for more information.
