HISTORY OF BUICK

1941 – 1960

1942: Wartime affects the entire U.S. as Buick builds more than 2,500 M18 Hellcat tank destroyers.

1941 – 1960

1949: Portholes make their debut on the fenders of all Buick vehicles, including the Roadmaster Convertible.

1941 – 1960

1950: The Riviera becomes a Super — and a full-size coupe. The Super Riviera Coupe hits the road with a 124 bhp inline (straight) 8-cylinder engine.

1953: Buick’s 50th anniversary car — the Roadmaster Skylark Convertible — debuts at a base price of $5,000.

1959: The Electra 225 — at 225 inches in length — debuts with three body styles and a 401 overhead valve V8 engine.
