MUSIC & PHOTOS

Why is there missing information on my iPod/iPhone/USB “Now Playing” screen?

The Infotainment system uses song information from the device to fill in the blanks on screen. Make sure the music on your device is up-to-date and accurate.

Does the Infotainment system save all of the songs to its hard drive?

No, the Infotainment system only allows you to access music through your connected/paired device. The system has built-in memory, but not a hard drive. The integrated memory is used to store the list of the songs on your connected device this way the system will remember the list every time you connect that device.

What file formats are supported for songs and playlists?

The Infotainment system supports a large variety of song file formats, including MP3, WMA, and AAC. It also supports the following playlist files M3U standard and extended, iTunes, PLS, WAX, ASX and RMP.

Why can’t I find my playlists?

Make sure your playlists are in the supported format. Your playlist will not work if the music in the list is not on the connected device.

Why won’t the Infotainment system index my music from USB?

We recommend that there are no other files on your device when playing music or downloading any data. Any other files could interfere with the system properly indexing your music. We recommend that your USB thumb drive be formatted before loading music and pictures. Some USB thumb drives have special security or encryption software; this software may prevent the device from being recognized. In addition, the system might not support that format of device (i.e. Microsoft Zune).

What different USB devices does the Infotainment system support?

The Infotainment system supports most smartphones and MP3 players that can be plugged in via the USB port. It also supports many different brands of USB flash drives.

Why can’t “More Like This” create a playlist for the song I am listening to?

The Gracenote® More Like This feature uses the music database that is installed in your Infotainment system. If a song is released after you purchased your vehicle, it will not be in the music database so Gracenote® cannot create a playlist.

HANDS-FREE CALLING

Can my older Bluetooth® phone work with the Infotainment system?

To take advantage of all the features the Infotainment system (available on most Buick models) has to offer, a smartphone running iPhone OS, BlackBerry®, or Android platform is required. Most Bluetooth®†-enabled phones are compatible with the Infotainment system, but some features may be limited. For a list of Bluetooth-enabled phones, click here.

How many phones can I pair to the Infotainment system?

The Infotainment system allows you to pair up to ten different devices. These can be smartphones or other Bluetooth-enabled phones, and even such Bluetooth-enabled devices as an iPod® Touch.

Will the system recognize any word I say?

While the Infotainment system has highly accurate voice-recognition software, it recognizes a list of many commands as well as most names. However, at times there could still be names or nicknames that the system cannot recognize.

APPS

Is Pandora® available at no extra cost?

The Pandora®† app is available at no extra cost. However, if you would like to enjoy an ad-free experience, a Pandora One subscription is available. Data rates do apply. Visit pandora.com for more information.

How can I find my bookmarks?

Bookmarks are shortcuts back to a specific artist or song. Once you add a bookmark, you will be able to access that song or artist through the Pandora audio menu online. Simply scroll through and find the one you’re looking for.

Why can’t I access my station list, bookmark a song, change to the next track or use my Thumbs-Up or Thumbs-Down keys?

Safety is of the utmost importance when driving a motor vehicle. Therefore, certain features may be inactive when the vehicle is in motion. If this happens, the buttons will turn active again upon putting the vehicle in park.

Why can’t I create a station?

Currently, the Infotainment system only allows you to pull in stations that you’ve already created via the web or your smartphone when it is not connected to the Infotainment system.

Why can’t the Infotainment system open Pandora on my connected iPhone®?

Please make sure the iPhone has the latest Pandora app, the phone is unlocked and no apps are running in the foreground (you can see home screen).

Why are there ads on Pandora?

Ads help Pandora pay the bills. Advertising support for free listener accounts helps cover the costs associated with offering a lot of great music for free. If you would like to enjoy an ad-free experience, a Pandora One subscription is available for a yearly fee.

Where did my album art and Thumbs-Up and Thumbs-Down buttons go?

If you are an OnStar® subscriber and use Turn-by-Turn directions, those directions will overlay any active screen on the right-hand side. This means that you may not be able to use the Thumbs-Up/Thumbs-Down icons or see some of the album art while in Turn-by-Turn mode.

Why can’t I star a program, change to the next Stitcher podcast, or use my Thumbs-Up or Thumbs-Down keys?

Some Stitcher stations may not support certain features, which is why the icons are grayed out or in active. If you cannot change to the next pod cast you may be at the end of a station list. Select another Stitcher station from the menu to continue listening.

How long does it take to acquire my stations?

Depending on the quality of your connection, it may take the Infotainment system about 30 seconds; once acquisition is complete, you’re ready to listen to your show.

GRACENOTE® TECHNOLOGY

When Gracenote® fills in missing information, does it go back on my device that way?

No, Gracenote® is technology embedded in the Infotainment system only, it will not fix any missing information on your MP3 player, USB drive or iPod®/iPhone®. However, as long as the information on your device doesn’t change, that information will be in your Infotainment system every time you get in your vehicle.

Why was the information on my collection not completed?

The Infotainment system and Gracenote® use song information from the device to fill in the blanks on screen. But Gracenote® needs to start somewhere. If the artist and album information is missing, then Gracenote® may not find an accurate match to fill in missing information on screen. Make sure your music on your device is up-to-date and accurate.

Why is there no album art for my song?

Gracenote® does its best to fill any voids in your music collection's information. However, there are even some artists or album covers that Gracenote® may not be able to find because information was missing from your music files. If cover art is not available, images of the artist or genre will be displayed in its place.

Why does the Gracenote® logo pop up and down on my screen when a device is connected?

This is perfectly normal. Once a device is connected, Gracenote® starts working immediately to index the song list, and assign voice tags. While this process is happening, the Gracenote® logo will pop up on the screen, letting you know that the technology is working. The length of the indexing process will depend on the number of songs on your device.

Why couldn’t the Infotainment system find my artist or song?

Gracenote® assigns digital voice tags so you can access artists, albums, and genres, just by saying their name. However, some new or less popular artists may not be in the Gracenote® database. And there are times when several artists sing different versions of a song or two artists may have the same name. In this instance Gracenote® will show you a list of possible matches. Select the one you want to play.

THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM

Why does the Infotainment system not understand my command?

The Infotainment system has high-accuracy enhanced voice control technology, however, there are some things that could interfere with the system understanding your command. Highway speeds, open windows and high fan speeds are just some of the possible things that could interfere with the Infotainment system understanding your exact commands. Voice-recognition with background noise is extremely challenging. To remedy this, close all windows and reduce the fan speed to a minimum and retry issuing your voice command. If this still doesn’t work, it may be because you’re speaking too soon. Wait for the beep, then pause a brief second before saying your command. This gives the microphone time to open and prepare itself to receive the speech signal.

Why is the Infotainment system not recognizing the number I want to dial?

Because of our speech patterns sometimes we tend to run a string of numbers together, so they may not be as clear as they need to be. You can greatly increase the accuracy of the number, by slowing down and properly enunciating each number.

STEERING WHEEL CONTROL

How do I change sources via my steering-wheel controls?

The Infotainment system lets you control almost the entire system from your steering wheel. To change sources from USB to SiriusXM, for example, simply press the SRC button down until you reach the desired source.

Why does toggling the previous and next buttons not change my source?

The SRC button is the button that changes your source. Although you are toggling it for previous and next stations, you can change your source only by pressing the button. Toggling it up and down will take you to the next or previous favorite station on your favorite-station list.

How can I interact with OnStar® when my phone is paired?

Pressing the Push to Talk button while a phone is paired with your vehicle will default to your paired phone. However, you can still access an OnStar Advisor by pressing the blue OnStar button on the mirror or overhead console. Access OnStar Hands-Free Calling by pressing the Voice Command button on the mirror or overhead console. You can also press the push to talk button and say “OnStar.”

TOUCH SCREEN CONTROL

Can I customize my Infotainment system homepage?

Yes, the Infotainment system lets you organize the icons, so you can easily access the features you use most.

Can I change the number of icons on my Infotainment system homepage?

Yes, you can have up to 8 icons, and you control the amount you want to see. If you only want four shown, the other features will be removed from the page. However, no features are being deleted they will just be accessible by clicking your next homepage.

Can I have more than one homepage?

Yes, the available Infotainment system gives you the ability to have up to three homepages. This allows you to put everything you need at your fingertips, while features you don’t access as often will be on other pages.

Where did my icons go?

If you customized your homepage, you may have noticed that one or more of your icons are now no longer on the homepage. They’re not missing. The Infotainment system lets you customize your first homepage only. Any features you don’t want on the page for any reason get pushed to your other homepages, which are accessible from your homepage by hitting NEXT on your touch-screen.

CLIMATE CONTROL

Why won't the Infotainment system let me adjust my climate controls from my touch screen?

Currently, the Infotainment system is designed to show you the status of the climate control change you made. Many people still prefer to use the HVAC controls on the vehicle console, and not have to touch the screen or speak commands to change the temperature. For simplicity, we give you one way to change the climate and see it on screen.

AM/FM/CD CONTROL

What type of CDs does the Infotainment system/radio play?

The Infotainment system can play standard audio or MP3 CD. It cannot play three inch CDs.

How should I care for my CD player?

The integrated CD player in the available Infotainment system functions as any other CD player does. Because of this, do not add a label to a disc. It may get caught and in the CD player. Do not use disc lens cleaner, as it may contaminate the lens optic, damaging the player. Insert only one disc at a time. And never play damaged or scratched CDs, as they too may damage the player.

BLUETOOTHTM STREAMING AUDIO

Can my older Bluetooth® phone work with the Infotainment system?

Most Bluetooth phones work with the Infotainment system. Older phones may not support all the features of the Infotainment system, but can still allow you to make hands free calls. You can stream audio from any smartphone that supports Bluetooth Audio Streaming. And you can stream both Pandora® and Stitcher® if you use a smartphone that runs on the Android operating system. On BlackBerry® smartphones, you can stream Pandora.® Visit Support to learn more.

Why won’t my iPhone® work with Bluetooth Audio?

Apple devices that are connected through only Bluetooth only (USB not connected) will be able to play audio through Bluetooth audio streaming. But you will not be able to access the full menu navigation and voice search feature until you connect the device through USB. When the device is connected with USB and Bluetooth the Bluetooth Audio feature is disabled.

If there is more than one Bluetooth-enabled device in the vehicle, which device will the Infotainment system default to?

The Infotainment system can recognize up to ten different Bluetooth-enabled device. It will recognize the devices in the order in which they are listed on screen. If a device listed isn’t in the vehicle, the Infotainment system will recognize this and immediately pair with the device that is in the vehicle.

If there is more than one device in the vehicle, how can I switch devices?

The Infotainment system stores up to ten Bluetooth-enabled devices. Simply access your settings to see the list of different paired devices. Scroll through the list to find the device you’re looking for. You can also press the push to talk button and say “Change Phone.”

How can I switch devices?

If one device is paired, like a smartphone, and you would like to switch to a different paired device, simply go into the device list under Bluetooth Settings and select the Bluetooth-enabled device. You can also connect different USB devices to the Infotainment system. Up to ten different Bluetooth-enabled devices can be paired with one connected through the USB at one time. You can also press the push to talk button and say “Change Phone.”

I paired my phone and it’s playing music, but I can’t see any of my information on screen?

The Infotainment system supports AVRCP 1.3 profile. This allows you to pair your Bluetooth-enabled device and see all of your song information on your available Infotainment system screen. However, certain devices, like the iPod®/iPhone® utilize AVRCP 1.0 (iPhone 4S supports audio information with AVRCP 1.4), and while the music will play over the speakers, information about the current song playing is unable to transfer.

USB CONNECTIVITY

Why won’t the system recognize my USB?

In most cases, the Infotainment system will have no problems recognizing your USB drive. However, there are some instances where software on the drive may conflict with software in the system. If this happens, simply use a different USB or try formatting your USB drive before you use it.

Why won’t the Infotainment system index my music from my USB?

We recommend that there are no other files on your device when playing music or downloading any data. Any other files could interfere with the system properly indexing your music. We recommend that your USB thumb drive be formatted before loading music and pictures. Some USB thumb drives have special security or encryption software; this software may prevent the device from being recognized. In addition, the system might not support that format of device (i.e. Microsoft Zune).

What different USB devices does the Infotainment system support?

The Infotainment system supports smartphones and MP3 players that are can be plugged in via the USB port. It also supports many different brands of USB flash drives.
