Master winter roads in a Buick SUV
Winter driving presents unique challenges, from slick, icy patches to heavy snowfall. Navigating these conditions with confidence requires a vehicle that is not only dependable but also equipped with advanced technology designed for safety
Advanced control for slippery conditions
Buick SUVs offer sophisticated systems designed to help enhance traction and stability, helping provide peace of mind when driving in snow and ice.
- All-wheel drive (AWD): Many drivers wonder about AWD vs. 4WD in snow. While both systems power all four wheels, AWD is often preferred for SUVs on paved roads. It automatically engages all wheels to help optimize traction before wheel slip occurs, offering a seamless and efficient response to changing conditions. Buick offers available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive on its SUV lineup in Encore GX, Envision and Enclave, to help improve control on slippery surfaces.
- StabiliTrak: Standard on Buick SUVs, StabiliTrak® automatically helps enhance control by adjusting the brakes and engine torque if it senses a difference between your intended path and the direction the vehicle is actually traveling.
- Driver modes: Select Buick models, like the Envision and Enclave, feature a Driver Mode Selector that includes a Snow/Ice Mode. When activated, this mode adjusts pedal tuning to optimize traction, helping to improve vehicle acceleration on snow-covered roads.
Comfort on cold days
Buick SUVs are designed with premium comfort features to help make driving in the winter a more pleasant experience.
- Remote commands:
* Available on all Buick SUVs, this feature allows you to start your vehicle from outside, warming up the engine and cabin before you even step inside. On some models, it can even activate the available heated seats and heated steering wheel in cold conditions. - Heated features: Combat the cold with heated front seats (standard on Enclave, available on Envision, Envista and Encore GX), heated second-row outboard seats (available on Enclave and Envision) and a heated steering wheel (standard on Enclave, available on Envision, Encore GX and Envista).
- Heated mirrors: To ensure clear visibility, available heated outside mirrors help clear away frost and ice, turning on with the rear window defogger.
- Dual-zone climate control: Allows the driver and front passenger to set their own preferred temperatures, helping to ensure personalized comfort for everyone. Available on Encore GX, Envision and Enclave.
- Triple-Zone Climate Control: A third set of controls allows rear passengers to set their own temperatures. Only on Enclave.
Enhanced winter driving safety
In addition to stability control, Buick SUVs are equipped with a suite of advanced driver-assistance features
- Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning:
* Uses a brief steering wheel turn to prevent a potential lane departure when it detects you are unintentionally drifting out of your lane lines. If needed, you may receive additional Lane Departure Warning alerts. System alerts do not occur if you’re using your turn signal, or it detects you may be intentionally leaving your lane. - Automatic Emergency Braking:
* At speeds between 5 and 50 mph, Automatic Emergency Braking can help you avoid or reduce the severity of a collision with a detected vehicle you’re following using camera technology. It can automatically provide hard emergency braking or enhance the driver’s hard braking.
