Pickleball Social
Buick and The Dink™ collaborate on the court
When it comes to staying active and meeting new people, there’s one place that’s sure to offer both: the pickleball court.
As the sport continues to gain in popularity around the country, Buick has partnered with The Dink, a multimedia company and leading authority on pickleball, to sponsor a series of events in several large cities throughout the year.
“Courted presented by Buick” is a high-energy social experience built around pickleball with games, music, food and drink tastings, and prizes all set in sleek urban venues. And Buick is bringing Envista and Enclave to the game as well so participants can get an up-close look at the vehicles.
Events include introductory sessions with coaches for beginners; mini games and professional exhibition games; a live DJ and trivia for entertainment; and a relaxed lounge space for mingling.
“This is not your average pickleball event. There is a lot of programming designed to be experiential and not just match play. Also, the game play is a doubles format so, in between games, there’s the ability to have courtside conversations.”

An Active Community
Pickleball, which blends elements of tennis, badminton and Ping-Pong, has enjoyed a surge of interest in the last several years, Curtin says. People love that the game offers a fun, community-driven competition for all skill levels — with wellness benefits.
“Pickleball is like a happy marriage between the cardio you get from tennis but also the social component you might get from being on the golf course with friends for the day,” he says.
The Dink offers pickleball enthusiasts an opportunity to immerse themselves in the sport, through the company’s website, online newsletter, social media channels and a podcast network that includes PicklePod, hosted by pro player Zane Navratil and The Dink founder Thomas Shields. The company is also expanding on its events component, hosting a competitive amateur circuit across the U.S.
The Dink’s platforms provide players with tips and tricks, breaking news in the sport, developments in pro tours, player signings and more.
