How to update your payment method

Learn how to manage your payment methods across GM accounts and sites. Follow the instructions below to set up and update the payment methods you use for OnStar®* plans, parts, accessories, vehicle payments and more.

 

Note: Payment methods stored in one location will not be saved automatically across accounts or sites. Be sure to store and update payment methods in all areas below as needed.

Update My Account payment methods

Manage how you pay for OnStar plans and electric vehicle (EV) public charging:

1. Go to Buick.com.

2. Select the account icon.

3. Sign in to My Account.

4. Scroll to the bottom of the Account Overview page and select Payments.

5. You will be taken to the Payments and History page where you can Add, Edit, Remove or Switch payment methods following the steps below.

a. Note: To access the Payments and History page, you must have an OnStar account connected to at least one vehicle. If you do not, you will instead be taken to a page where you can activate services or link an existing OnStar account.

Add a payment method

Once on the Payments and History page:

1. Select Add Payment Method link.

2. On the Add a Payment Method page, select which payment type you would like to add: Credit Card or Bank Account.

3. Enter your card or bank account information in the fields provided.

4. Select Save.

 

If your information has been entered correctly, you will see a message confirming that your card or bank account has been added to your Payment Methods and see it listed on the Payments and History page.

Edit or delete a payment method

To Edit or Delete a Payment Method stored in your account, go to the Payments and History page, then select either the Edit or Delete link under the payment method you wish to change.

  • Edit – Once you’ve selected the Edit link, a pop-up window will appear where you can edit the details of a stored card. Change details as necessary and select Save.
    • Note: You cannot edit details of a stored bank account. To make changes, you will need to delete and re-add the bank account to your payment methods.
  • Delete – Once you’ve selected the Delete link, a pop-up window will appear asking you to confirm that payment method’s removal from your account. Select Delete.

Switch payment method

To switch the payment method used for your recurring subscriptions such as OnStar or public charging services, go to the Payment and History page:

1. Find the payment method used as your current default, and select the Switch Payment Method link under it.

2. In the Switch Payment Method pop-up window that appears, select a new payment method from the drop-down menu. (You may only choose a credit or debit card.)

a. Note: If no other credit or debit cards are stored in your account, you can add a new one by selecting the Add Payment Method link that appears below the drop-down menu.

3. Select Save.

 

Note about PayPal®: The use of PayPal as a My Account payment method is currently no longer available. If you previously added PayPal as a payment method, it may still show up as a stored payment method on your Payments and History page. If you would like to update its details, select the Manage my PayPal link under that payment method to be taken to the PayPal website.

Update parts and accessories payment methods

Manage how you pay when purchasing Buick parts and accessories online:

1. Go to Accessories.Buick.com or Parts.Buick.com.

2. Select the account icon.

3. Sign in to My Account.

4. Select the account icon again, and select Payment Methods from dropdown menu.

5. You will be taken to the Payment Methods page where you can Add, Edit or Remove payment methods following the steps below. 

Add a payment method

Once on the Payment Methods page:

1. You may see a pop-up window with a welcome message. If so, you can select the Add New button in that window. OR, if you do not see the pop-up window, select the Add New Payment Method link.

2. Enter your Credit or Debit card information into the fields provided.

3. Check the box to agree with GM Payment Terms and U.S. Privacy Statement.

4. Select the Confirm button.

 

If your information has been entered correctly, you will see a message confirming your card has been added to your Payment Methods. You will also see a card details tile now showing on the Payment Methods page.

Edit or remove a payment method

To Edit or Remove a Payment Method stored in your account, select either the Edit or Remove link next to the payment method you wish to change.

  • Edit – Once you’ve selected the Edit link, your card details tile will expand to allow you to edit the Name or Expiry date on your stored card. Change details as necessary and select Update.
  • Remove – Once you’ve selected the Remove link, a pop-up window will appear asking you to confirm that payment method’s removal from your account. Select Confirm Removal.

 

After editing or removing a payment method, you will see a message confirming your changes.
