About your vehicle's Camera app
The available Camera app
What is the Camera app?
Your vehicle’s Camera app lets you select multiple camera views that can help make you more aware of the area around or inside your vehicle. The actual camera views you can select may vary, depending on your vehicle.
How do I access the Camera app?
Press the Camera icon on your center display
- Icons representing different views along the left or along the bottom of the screen.
- A camera view displayed in the middle.
- If your vehicle is equipped with available Surround View and you’ve enabled that feature, you’ll see an overhead Surround View/Overhead/Top-Down View of your vehicle on the right or left side of the screen.
- Surround View uses cameras mounted on the outside rearview mirrors. If you open a vehicle door while this view is displayed, you’ll notice a blank field on the overhead view where that camera view would normally be.
What camera views can I select?
Here are the camera views you can select, depending on your vehicle’s equipment. The names of views listed here may vary, depending on your vehicle.
Cabin Glance
This available feature lets you briefly check in on rear-seat passengers with a live feed of the second and third rows (depending on your vehicle).
Cabin Glance uses a rear-facing camera mounted in the overhead console. Once you select it from the Camera app, it will remain on your center display until you switch the view or the Rear Vision Camera activates.
This view does not store or record any footage.
Front camera views
- Front View/Front Standard View: Shows the area directly in front of your vehicle.
- Front Wide View/Front Junction View: Shows a wide-angle, cross-traffic view of the area directly in front of your vehicle (older vehicles only).
- Front Overhead View/Top-Down View: Shows a top-down view of the area directly in front of your vehicle.
- Front Side View/Side Forward View: Shows the area directly beside the front of your vehicle.
Rear camera views
- Rear View/Rear Standard View: Shows the area directly behind your vehicle.
- When in Rear View/Rear Standard View, you can enable two sets of guidelines with the guideline button on your display — one set that tracks the path of your vehicle, and Hitch Guidance guidelines that can help you line up a trailer hitch.
- Rear Wide View/Rear Junction View: Shows a wide-angle, cross-traffic view of the area directly behind your vehicle (older vehicles only).
- Rear Overhead View/Top-Down View: Shows a top-down view of the area directly behind your vehicle.
- Rear Side View/Rearward View: Shows the area directly beside the rear of your vehicle.
- 3D Bowl View: Displays one of several perspective views of the vehicle and its surroundings at different angles. 3D Bowl View is only available on some vehicles.
- To view, touch the desired Bowl View perspective icon on the center display when the camera app is active.
Turn Signal Activated View
The available Turn Signal Activated View feature is designed to show you the side view of your vehicle and/or trailer when you activate your turn signal. It can help you see the side of your vehicle and/or trailer while you change lanes or complete your turn to help avoid curbs and other obstacles.
You may have to enable Turn Signal Activated View in your vehicle’s Settings menu or the in-vehicle trailering system (if your vehicle has that feature).
Before making a lane change, always check the mirrors and glance over your shoulder. Improper use could result in serious injury to you or others.
Underbody camera system
Some vehicles feature an available underbody camera system designed to give you a view of the terrain below your vehicle to help you navigate around obstacles without damaging your vehicle.
The system consists of two wide-angle lens cameras covered with a clear lens protector. One faces forward, toward the front wheels. The other faces rearward, toward the underbody and rear wheels.
The underbody cameras can help you monitor wheel spin and specific tire placement in certain off-roading scenarios. They can also help you avoid obstacles underneath the vehicle, like rocks.
Note: When you select an underbody camera view and stay below 8 mph, the selected view will not change while shifting between FORWARD and REVERSE gears. This is designed to help you stay focused on particular areas below the vehicle. If you go above 8 mph after shifting out of REVERSE, the Camera app will close. You can reopen the app if needed when this happens.
How to use the underbody cameras
Through the Camera app on your center display, you can toggle back and forth between the front and rear underbody views. You can also select a split-screen view that displays both the front and rear underbody views.
You can view the underbody cameras while driving. Depending on your vehicle, when in Terrain Mode, when you might be most likely to use these views, remember speed may be limited to 50 mph.
Park Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert overlays are also not available when underbody views are selected.
Note: The lens protectors on the underbody cameras are replaceable.
