About the GM Extended Family™ Mastercard® (until 8/22/2025)

Important information about the GM Extended Family Mastercard for existing Cardmembers. 

At 12:01 a.m. ET on August 22, 2025, GM credit card accounts will transfer from Marcus by Goldman Sachs® to Barclays Bank.* Cardmembers will receive communications directly from Barclays regarding this transition, and new card benefits will start on August 22, 2025. For now, you can keep using your GM Extended Family Mastercard as you normally would.

The following benefits will continue through August 21, 2025: 

  • Earn 1% on everyday purchases toward the retail purchase or lease of an eligible, new GM vehicle*
  • All Earnings can be combined with the GM Employee, Supplier or Dealership Employee discount (if eligible) for an even greater value toward your next, new GM vehicle*
  • Combine Earnings with most vehicle offers for more potential value
  • There’s no limit to the amount of Earnings you can build up or use toward an eligible, new GM vehicle. Plus, Earnings can be used for up to 7 years on accounts in good standing 
  • Earnings can also be used as statement credits in any amount over $50 in statement credit value once your credit card is linked to your My Account*. To use your Earnings as statement credits, log in to your My Account and navigate to “Rewards Programs” on the left-hand side and choose “Manage Account” from the GM Extended Family™ Mastercard tile lower on the page. This will then take you to your summary page, where you can select “Redeem” near the top right of the page and scroll down to “Redeem toward Statement Credit.” From here, simply enter how much you’d like to use toward a statement credit (minimum $50). After completing the prompts on the site, you will then receive your Statement Credit.

Transitioning From the GM Extended Family Mastercard to the GM Rewards Mastercard from Barclays Bank 

If your GM Extended Family Mastercard account is transitioning to Barclays Bank, you should receive a new GM Rewards Mastercard from Barclays Bank in August. If you have any authorized users, their card(s) will be sent to the primary Cardmember. You should continue to use your GM Extended Family Mastercard as normal, and Marcus by Goldman Sachs® will continue to service your credit card account until the transfer to Barclays is complete. 

 

If you transition to the new GM Rewards Mastercard from Barclays, you will become a GM Rewards* Member and you will earn GM Rewards points from your GM Rewards Mastercard spend. Your GM Extended Family Mastercard Earnings will convert to points at a rate of 100 points for each $1 in Earnings. These points will be available to you in your new GM Rewards Member Account. These points can be combined with a Employee, Retiree, Supplier or Dealer Discount, if you are eligible.

Q&As

How do I manage my GM Extended Family Mastercard account and view Earnings? 

If you already have a My Account with GM, start by following the prompts on gmcard.com to log in to your account. Once logged in, you will land on the “Rewards Programs” dashboard.

 

If you don’t already have My Account credentials, follow the prompts on gmcard.com to create your My Account. 

What will happen to my Earnings if I have the GM Extended Family Mastercard?

Earnings will convert to points on the new GM Rewards Mastercard at a rate of 100 points for each $1 in Earnings.

Should I cancel my current GM Extended Family Mastercard from Marcus by Goldman Sachs?

No. Please keep using your current GM Extended Family Mastercard from Marcus for now — you’ll still build Earnings with every swipe. Those Earnings will convert to points in August, if you are transferring to the new GM Rewards Mastercard from Barclays. 

If My GM Extended Family Mastercard is lost or stolen, will I lose my accumulated Earnings?

If your GM credit card is lost or stolen, your Earnings are still available to you. Report your missing credit card to Marcus by Goldman Sachs at 1-833-773-0988 as soon as possible and they’ll assist you.
